FAQ

Play is sacred?

Play is a basic and constant part of creation and existance. Animals make mudslides. Babies laugh when we play peek-a-boo. Symphonies and operas are played across the centuries. Nations compete in sporting events. The celestial bodies look like they dance across the heavens. Everything plays and we feel that is worth celebrating.

Sanctuary of Play is a church?

Yes, Sanctuary of Play (SOP) was created to be, and practices as, a church. It is not a non-profit at this time. As the church grows, more formal and more legal status is a priority. We are following the make it exist first, then make it good, then make it better mindset.

Play is sacred. Let’s celebrate togeather!

Sanctuary of Play is a virtual church with the joyful mission that play is a sacred gift and innate part of our natures which should be celebrated.

We feel play is a basic need like sleep, food and water, shelter, and community. Like those practices play is good for us, has a purpose, and can be expressed in many ways. We are going to talk about play and encourage play in our lives.

The church Sanctuary of Play is non-denominational?

Yes. SOP is not trying to be all things to all people. We don’t sleep all the time. We don’t work all the time. We don’t play all the time. Play is a part of the sacred. We feel play can be celebrated alongside many other faiths and practices.
